today started out pretty okay. except..
Yesterday, Ro forgot her lunch bag at school.
I'm not cranky about it, unless she forgets it again today, in which case she is TOTALLY stuck with the predictably unpleasant job of cleaning out whatever science-experiment-gone-wrong might be found in there on Monday afternoon.
Like any good mom/cook/actor.... I improvised. Used what was on hand, and it was all groovy, kids.
PB&J. Baby Bel Cheese. Applesauce. Goldfish. Juicebox.
Admittedly, i forgot to set my alarm clock last night, so i was all about the quick easy route. Lucky me - Ro is all for PB&J. Grabbed one of the Gravity Falls (more on THAT in a future blog!) lunch bags from Subway, and all was right in the world... and we headed to the bus stop.
Not the fanciest, or gourmet, or exotic. (Well, the goldfish are whole wheat, the pb no sugar or palm oil added, and no corn syrup in the jam. better pb & j?) But i've noticed a definitive shift in her energy levels and attention span since i've been fixing her lunch. I never doubted those "NO KID HUNGRY" campaigns, but this makes me all the more sympathetic to programs working to provide healthy meals for kids without means.
and, in case you haven't noticed, it's friday. I won't be pushing myself to post much over weekends, unless i do some kind of madcap cooking project or something happens that i find impossible to avoid blogging about. Like Cake Wrecks, we all need a break. They've got Sunday Sweets. I'm just taking off on the weekends. Deal? Deal.
(Rosemary would totally be shaking your hand with a hidden buzzer on her her right about now - MARVIN ACME'S NUMBER ONE SELLER!... she's such a card.)
Karen Watch continues. I've got an iTunes giftcard burning a hole in my pocket - i think it's going to take some time (harHARhar) to decide which Carpenters albums to download with it....
