Late night kvetch leads to morning sprint

As Ro's new school is finding it's groove ( not just new to Ro, but brand spankin' new, period), I find that there are more things to love about it.

A couple of weeks ago, we were told that the kids would have picnic lunch in the park every other Wednesday (alternating, 2 classes per week).

I am not a fan of dining al fresco but I love a good picnic. (Isnt it ironic? Don'tcha think?)

So, Wednesday will be pb & j days, stuff that is light and mostly consumable without the weight of a thermos or bento in the way. I'm trying to make it the only sandwich day of the week as I continue to develop some kind of diversified lunch routine which features her favorite foods, old and new, and so that she isn't eating the same thing five days in a row.

Today, though, I am suffering because I did something I don't usually do - I stayed up half the night catching up with one of my oldest & dearest friends. It was like we were Tweens again, gabbing about school, music, shoes, guys... Except for the schools being for our kids, the conversation wasn't too different from other late night rambling a of our younger days. We had a time there where we weren't talking. I'm glad that time is over. I missed her.

I suppose the point of this is... Appreciate the people who have been there through it all with you. Your kids, your siblings, your parents, your best friend from pre-school. Each of them is worth the 3 hours you don't sleep when they need an ear...preferably yours.

Breakfast bar, juice box special this morning. Easy, grab and go. Lunch was about the same level of ease: yogurt, goldfish, whole apple. Gummies for a treat. The water bottle leaked in the car, so I have to fix that tonight. Ro and I both slept in a bit this morning, and i'm already pondering a cup of coffee. But,spending time catching up and kvetching was worth it. And, I was able to eek out a healthy lunch and still get Rosie to the bus on time.

And I even remembered to pack a spoon. Go me. Sometimes, things all fall into place.
