To Everything There Is a Season...

Crumbsnatcher Readers:

It has been a few months shy of a year since my last post. I got a little lazy, then I got too busy to write. And then Ro started to get a bit picky, so lunch became a kinda boring.

Then something terrible happened.

Now, as Ro & I try to collect ourselves and cope with the loss of our beloved Jeremy, I find that making her lunch is a new joy each day. It is something to keep my mind off the hurt, the heartbreak, the anger, the challenge of rebuilding our lives without a husband, a father, my best friend.

There is a lot of "new" in our lives...new home, new school, and new adventures for my daughter and me.

Before I relaunch posting photos of Ro's lunches, recipes, and other food related goings on in our lives, I needed to take a moment to say thank you, for being so eager to peer into the eating habits of a little girl with a lot of moxie.

Long before our little Crumbsnatcher came along, Jeremy understood that cooking for the people I care about was a favorite way of expressing that affection. Home cooked food, made with love, is a magnificent comfort to both the cook and the person who gets to eat it; a small way to make a big impact on someone who needs to know that they are loved.

For Jeremy, I made omelets, banana pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, salads,  lasagna, red beans & rice, chili, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes - he didn't have a list of fancy requests, but my heart was in every step of the preparation, and his empty plate was the best reward.

Not to mention big hugs and a kiss. He was always grateful.

Jeremy, thanks for letting me feed you.

I love you, Ro loves you... and we both miss you very much.
