snack duty.

Over the three years that Rosemary was at Cathedral Montessori School, we had a snack rotation as per Maria Montessori's method of educating a whole child, with concepts of responsibility and experience in practical life. With snack duty came certain privileges and it was more of a chore for the parents than for the students.

At Ro's new school, parents were asked to volunteer contributions to a snack fund or to voluntarily commit to bringing snack sometimes. I'm cool with that - we'd already been in the habit of having snack day, so it's not a big deal.

Except the day before, when i'm clueless about what to make!

As the math section of their coursework is examining 3D shapes - i'm thinking about doing something in a sphere shape, something in a prism shape and something in a rectangle or cube.

but what? or so i just stick with what i did last time, which was a big hit?

argh. i hate repeating a snack. BUT. i have a festival this weekend, and i don't really want to spend all night int he kitchen. or go back to the grocery tonight, but well.. yeah.

So, in my less than eloquent flow today, we had a lumpy morning, which is clearly manifesting in my writing, too.

It's picnic day, so it was a pretty easy lunch assembly - pb& j, cheese sticks, goldfish, gummy snacks, apple juice box.

Whatever is for lunch tomorrow, i think i better prep all the things tonight.

Apples w/ Yogurt dip is sounding pretty good right about now.
