peace on mother's day.

after the tumultuousness of the last two weekends, i am gleeful that this one has been pretty low key.  as a mother's day weekend treat, jeremy and i went to see the new star trek movie yesterday (so incredibly excellent, i can't begin to explain), and today has been a quiet day at home, aside from a brief visit to see my mom. oh, and rosemary opening and closing the kitchen cabinet doors. alot.

the one thing about mother's day that makes me a little wistful is how very much i miss my godmother, my Nan. She was like my auxilliary mother, and now her daughter is rosemary's Nan. How awesome is that?

I am so grateful to have known so many wonderful, strong, and confident women in my life, but aside from my own mother, none have had the impact on me that my Nan had. I can only hope that Lyn and Ro have the same dynamic. So far, they're like two peas in a pod.  We're looking forward to another visit with her in DC this summer.

In memory of my Nan and my Auntie Barbara, as well as Nanny Ro (rosemary being her namesake), Gramma Margie, my great grandmothers...and my dear friend Connie - there is a quiet comfort to be had in recalling all that I had the gift of learning from each of you.

And to all of the amazing ladies (my Mom, Auntie Brenda, Joni, and so many others) who nurture and give of themselves tirelessly to ensure that others find their way in this world,  I wish you a perfect and lovely Mother's day.
