just a heads up that the next couple of weeks might chunky. i work for jazz fest here in new orleans, and that takes place over the next two weekends. perhaps i'll shift into what I will be eating instead (see the poll!)
does this mean Ro's lunch will suck? No Way! I've been diligently planning and organizing the goods so that all the items can be assembled with ease.
also, i am on the lookout for a lunch kit for her that makes me happy. ultimately, she's the one who will be carrying it, but i have been recommended the 'laptop lunches' kit, which seems pretty interesting. it is essentially a bento box setup w/ a handbook for americans who have *no* idea what bento is.
also, looking at kawaii real bento stuff on jbox.com. but those will definitely have to wait a bit.
i am also pondering a melamine stacked set. and the there's always the option of something simple and monogrammed from land's end or pottery barn kids.
whichever way i go, i won't be doing this until after festival.
so, if you're in the vicinity of new orleans, get yourself out to the fair grounds sometime over the next couple of weeks! the food is brilliant (i should know, right?) and there might even be a little bit of music to go with it.
happy festival, y'all.

ReplyDeleteThere's madd cuteness there! Once the glittermonsters start going to some sort of day program I'm going to do stuff like that. Funny thing is my lunches back in the day were technically "bento", just without all the uber fun/cute stuff.
the bento study has begun, i will definitely follow this link! also, i saw someone's blog (need to dig up the link for you) where this mom made onigiri in COLORS (pink and blue rice!!!) with little punched nori faces for her kid's snack day.
ReplyDeletethis is going to evolve into something, i just know it.
my lunches back in the day were either from the cafeteria or uber-dull. i went through a phase of bringing jello and that's the extent of interesting.
i need to invest in some aspic cutters...
